AppleScript is a scripting language launched by Apple Inc. This scripting language makes possible direct control of scriptable applications and of many parts of the Mac OS. With its applications, users can write scripts to automate operations, whereas developers can use it as an aid to rapid prototyping and automated testing. Different techniques can be used by developers such as Apple events, AppleScript, Automator and Scriptiing Bridge. The scripting language is based on Open Scripting Architecture which is implemented by several Mac OS X frameworks. Apple also provides an array of technologies that enhance AppleScript or take advantage of its features.
